Our research currently focusses on the following core areas:

Pervasive Healthcare : This area of research concerns itself with the Mobile and Pervasive technologies to support the process of condition diagnosis as well as the post-diagnosis treatment and care. Sub-themes include:

  • Pervasive Home Care Technologies
  • Technologies for supporting the Ageing Population
  • Nursing, Medical and Clinical Support Systems

Mobile & Ubiquitous Interaction : This area of research considers the interaction of humans with their surrounding built or natural environment and its cohabitants through the use of mobile or pervasive devices. Sub-themes include:

  • Interaction with the surrounding environment
  • Location-based Services
  • Mobile and Pervasive Gaming
  • Mobile HCI
  • Context Aware Services, including Personal, Physical, Environmental and Emotional context

Pervasive Network Infrastructures : This area of research relates to the investigation of novel network infrastructures of integrating wired and wireless networks for the support of mobile and pervasive applications and services. Sub-themes include:

  • Remote Data Acquisition
  • Wireless Network technologies
  • Node-to-node and Node-to-Infrastructure communications
  • Wireless Sensors and Sensor Network technologies

Other areas of research interests of the group include

  • Mobile Audio/Video Interaction
  • Mobile Information Access, including data storage, visualisation of data, Information Retrieval for mobile device applications.
